Friday November 27th

Hey everyone, just a quick note to say that we're changing the way we categorize our links slightly. Our previously labelled "miscellaneous" category will now be more accurately called "women in comics", and the miscellaneous category should be a bit more self-descriptive and reserved for items that don't quite fit elsewhere. Also! Alphabetized! =)

We appreciate feedback, and if you've got links to submit you can send 'em to womenincomics@gmail.com!

Thanks.

I know in superhero comics, history is constantly rewritten to reflect new "continuity". But this is the real world, so why are we linking to dishonest press releases about the "first gay superheroes"?

No matter how good the quality of the books are, they are hurting themselves in the long run by lying to the press.

I'm inclined to agree with the other Anon. It's also worse in the case of these 'first gay superheroes' as they come across as a pretty poor representation, very much based in stereotypes, of LGBT people.

Though I should note that I like WFA's attempt to be more consistent with the categories and alphabetizing links.

Anonymous #1,

Remember, we compile links of all sorts. We make no promises as to their quality.

Of course they're not the the first gay superheroes, but either the book was pitched that way in a press release or something or there are just lots of lazy journalists out there.

Continuity doesn't really enter into it.

Anonymous #2,

Thanks.
